#10

And alas, we arrive at number 10. Double digits. Surely a milestone.
Piece number 10 was commissioned with the intent of being a completely unique Christmas gift for a family member. The goal was to create a one of kind desk lamp that was capable of producing enough light for aging eyes to be able to enjoy the function, as well as the form. The artist was very excited as this has created a 3rd and distinctly different style of lamp from the previous creations in this series.
A keen eye will find the following on this lamp: Spider gears, Connecting Rods, Roller Chain, Timing chain, Cam drive, and various gears and other metal. All materials are “up cycled” from salvage parts, destined to be melted into rebar if it wasn’t for our artist discerning eye.
Speaking of gears, this lamp has multiple moving parts. The large gear that hovers above the legs spins freely. The head of the lamp is adjustable by way of the cam drive mounted on the back. This piece was specifically designed for its new owner, who happens to be a Southpaw, and the main adjustment knob was mounted on the left hand side with this in mind.
One other extremely unique detail of this piece is the etching on the roller chain. Not only has our artist etched the number 10 on the roller of the chain, but 180 degrees from that you will find the initials of the new owner.
Every numbered piece includes a numbered, hand stained, upholstered crate with sewn leather handles. The crate for piece number 10 is quite striking, perhaps the nicest crate built to date. The diamond pressed black cushioned interior exudes luxury, while the warm walnut stain on the exterior keeps the theme warm and inviting. Our customers regularly display their crate with their lamp, as it is a work of art in itself.
